Akito Sohma(²ÝĦ ã»ÈË S¨ma Akito) is the leader of the Sohma clan in the manga and anime series entitled Fruits Basket. Akito is shrouded in mystery, and though frail with poor health, is feared and respected by many members of the Sohma clan.

His exact age has not been given, but Natsuki Takaya once said that although she draws him young, he's in his forties.

He enjoys eating junk food (especially pastries and sweets) and is rarely seen without a lollipop or some other treat.

Haru has a terrible sense of direction and often gets lost. His name originates from the Japanese word hatsuharu, which means 'New Year' or 'early spring'. However the Kanji in Hatsuharu's name (œÂ´º) are not the same as the Kanji in the word hatsuharu from which it originates (³õ´º), though the hiragana associated with both of them is still ¤Ï¤Ä¤Ï¤ë ('hatsuharu').
